Carnivorous plants

Plants seem like harmless beings that snack on sunlight and water, and mind their own business. But not all plants are like this. Some trap and eat meat!

These are carnivorous plants. They mostly feed on insects, but some feed on larger prey.

But why do these plants eat meat in the first place? And what else do they eat apart from insects?
